On Sunday, Lagos Governor Akinwunmi Ambode ordered the immediate demolition to all Lagos waterfront communities. The Nigerian Slum / Informal Settlement Federation held an emergency meeting of over 20 communities that fear they may fall among those threatened by the Governor's announcement.  

Communities and civil society partners issue press statement condemning forced evictions at Eagle Island and decry threat of further evictions looming over more than 60,000 people in 17 communities across Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
